Home remedies to get rid of phlegm

The problem of mucus causes tightness in the throat and difficulty in breathing. In such a situation, you can adopt these home remedies. Let’s know about them.

Do you feel something congested in your throat and chest? Shortness of breath and constant feeling of wellness? All these symptoms are the accumulation of mucus. Friends, runny nose and fever are also the main symptoms of this problem. Although mucus is not dangerous, but if it persists for a long time, it can cause other breathing problems. There can be many reasons for the accumulation of mucus, such as cold, flu, viral infection, sinus, excessive smoking. There are many home remedies to deal with this problem, let’s know about them.

ginger and honey

There are many such elements in ginger that can cope with many diseases. Its consumption is beneficial in cold and cough and the respiratory process gets cured. Crush 100 grams of ginger. Mix two to three spoons of honey in it. Take two teaspoons of this paste twice a day. The problem will go away.

white pepper

Finely grind half a teaspoon of white pepper. Then add 1 teaspoon of honey to it. Microwave this mixture for 10-15 seconds. Then drink it. You will get instant relief as soon as you drink it. To get rid of mucus completely, take this mixture thrice a day for a week to 2 weeks.

grape juice

Grapes are expectorant in nature and hence it helps in clearing out more mucus for your lungs. Mix two spoons of honey in two spoons of grapefruit juice. Take this mixture thrice a day for a week.

lemon tea

The citric acid in lemon and the antiseptic properties of honey help loosen mucus and relieve sore throat. Make black tea, and mix one spoon of fresh lemon juice and one spoon of honey in it.  


Mix one teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water. Drop your neck a little backwards and then gargle with this salt water. Do not swallow this water. You will definitely feel better after gargling by keeping it in your throat for some time.


Carrots are rich in Vitamin C. Due to the antioxidant elements present in it, it enhances your immune system. Apart from this, there are many such vitamins and nutrients in it, which remove the problem of cough and mucus. Extract the juice from 3-4 fresh carrots. Add some water and 2-3 spoons of honey to it. Mix this mixture well. Drink this mixture two to three times in a day, your mucus problem will be cured.

Garlic and Lemon

Anti-inflammatory substances are present in garlic and citric acid in lemon. When both are used, they help us in clearing out mucus. Boil a little water. Squeeze three lemons in it. Add some grated ginger. Along with half a teaspoon of black pepper powder and a pinch of salt. Mix all these well and drink. This will give you instant relief from the problem of mucus.

chicken soup

Hot chicken soup removes the problem of mucus and moisturizes your windpipe. It can thin the mucus. Therefore, drink hot chicken soup two to three times a day to clear your throat. You can also add ginger and garlic separately to it, more and faster will be the benefit.


Turmeric is the most effective thing for the treatment of mucus. It acts as an antioxidant and contains curcumin which is beneficial in many internal and external problems of the body. In a glass of warm milk, mix light and half a teaspoon of black pepper powder. Now add one spoon of honey to it. Drink it daily to remove mucus.
